Wildlife

Mago National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and various antelope species. The park is also rich in birdlife, with over 300 species recorded.

Mursi Tribe

The Mursi people are one of the most well-known tribes in Ethiopia, famous for their lip plates and body scarification. Visiting a Mursi village provides a unique cultural experience and insight into their traditional way of life.

Scenic Landscapes

The park’s diverse landscapes, from savannahs and woodlands to riverine forests and wetlands, offer stunning views and excellent opportunities for photography.

Game Drives

Mago National Park is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 300 species recorded. Look out for the Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fish eagle, and various waterfowl.

Visiting a Mursi village provides a unique cultural experience and insight into their traditional way of life. Interact with the Mursi people, learn about their customs, and take photographs (with permission).

The main attraction here is the Nech Sar National Park containing two of Ethiopia’s largest Rift Valley Lakes: Abaya and Chamo, separated by a strip of land dubbed “the bridge of God”.

Located 400km southeast of Addis Ababa, Bale Mountains National Park contains a spectacularly diverse landscape. The high altitude, afro-montane Sanetti Plateau rises to over 4,000m and includes the highest peak in the southern Ethiopia highlands.
