This trek leads through landscapes covered by deep gorges, jagged plugs, and striking rock towers. Enroute, we climb some of Africa's highest peaks: Ras Dashen (4620m), Buyit Ras (3250m), and Bwahit (4430m). This park is a haven to many endemic species of wildlife and flora, including the Gelada Baboon, Walia Ibex, and many bird species. The park has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This trip is a perfect combination of Ethiopia’s incredible diversity of history and ancient civilization, culture, and nature. On this trekking adventure, you will also have the chance to interact with the local host community and witness the lifestyle and culture of the people living isolated in the mountains with a unique and ancient farming style.
Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa
Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to the hotel. If you arrive in the morning, we can arrange an optional city tour for the afternoon.

Day 2: Addis Ababa, Bahirdar
In the morning, we drive to Bahirdar through the Great Blue Nile Gorge with a stopover at different small towns like Dejen, Chancho, and Goha Tsion.

Day 3: Lake Tana, Blue Nile Falls, Bahir Dar
In the morning, we will take boat ride on Lake Tana and visit the ancient 14th-century island monasteries of Lake Tana. After lunch at the hotel, we will drive 35 km to visit the majestic Blue Nile Falls.
Overnight: Hotel, Bahirdar
Day 4: Bahir Dar, Gondar
After breakfast, we drive to Gondar through the beautiful countryside scenery and will arrive around lunchtime. After lunch, we tour the ancient city of Gondar.

Day 5: Gondar, Simien Mountains
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Simien Mountains National Park. For the rest of the day, we trek to explore the surrounding area of Sankaber, part of Simien Mountains National Park.
Overnight: Camping in Sankaber
Day 6: Sankaber, Geech (3,550m)
Trek for 5 to 6 hours from Sankaber to Geech enroute enjoying the stunning views.
Overnight: Camping
Day 7: Geech, Imetegogo, Chenek (3600m)
Today we take a 7- to 9-hour trek through the beautiful mountains to Intaye (4000 m)
Overnight: Camping in Chenek
Day 8: Chenek, Gondar
In the morning, we trek around Chenek then proceed to Gondar by vehicle.
Overnight: Hotel
Day 9: Gondar, Lalibela
Today we fly from Gondar to Lalibela and visit the most important rock-hewn churches of Lalibela.

Day 10: Lalibela, Addis Ababa, Departure
In the morning, we transfer to Lalibela airport for the flight to Addis Ababa. Depending on your departure, we can arrange an optional city tour in Addis Ababa.
In the evening, there will be a Grand Holidays Ethiopia Tours complimentary farewell dinner party with special traditional buffet and local drinks (flight schedule permitting). At the end of the farewell dinner, transfer to Addis Ababa airport for the flight back. End of tour.
